La Ciénaga.
The first international conference on cinema, philosophy and children’s world will be held next week in Lisbon, organised by Nova Institute of Philosophy, in a partnership with Nova Institute of Communication and the Centre for 20th Century Interdisciplinary Studies - University of Coimbra. The complete program is available here. I am chairing Deborah Martin’s (University College London) keynote session, “‘Seen Through Gestures’: Children’s Hands, Space and the Child’s World in Film”, on the second day. La Ciénaga (2001), directed by Lucrecia Martel, will be screened after her talk and she will make some comments on the film.
