Carnivàle and the American Grotesque

20.02.2015

After a long period of gestation, the essay collection on Carnivàle (2003-5) will be finally out at the end of next month. “Carnivàle” and the American Grotesque: Critical Essays on the HBO Series is edited by Peg Aloi and Hannah E. Johnston, to which I am (and doubtless all contributors to the volume are) deeply grateful for not giving up on this book project. My chapter is entitled “Magic and Loss: Style, Progression and the ‘Ending’ of Carnivàle”. Daniel Knauf, the television series’ creator, was kind enough to write a foreword to the collection.
